The Katriel Story Katriel Kennels is a family owned Kennel. And this is the story of how it all began... John and Kandee Popham along with their 3 children (Courtney, Kaycee & Seth) fell in love with a Bull Mastiff puppy, which they later named "Mazey", so much that they drove 3 hours each way two different times just to get her. Once she became a part of the family, the Pophams decided that one Bull Mastiff just wasn't enough. So when Mazey was "old enough" the Pophams introduced her to Tucker and well let's just say they liked each other. Two months later the puppies arrived. Once again the Pophams fell in love, but it really wasn't feasible to keep all 11 puppies so they narrowed it down to 3, Lil, Zuki and Mack. After having a bad experience with Mazey being at a kennel once and realizing that boarding 4 Bull Mastiffs (and let's not forget the Border Collie) was really not going to work, the Pophams built what they once called the puppy barn. Now that Lil and Zuki are "old enough" to be introduced to a very lucky guy the Pophams have now started Katriel Kennels. Katriel Kennels is located in the original puppy barn that has been renovated to accommodate guests. |
At Katriel Kennels we are often asked where our name came from. Well just in case you were wondering the same thing, here it is. Katriel (Ka-tree-ell) - is a girls name with Hebrew origin. The Hebrew meaning is "My Crown is God". Here is why this name is so important to us - Part of why we were created and are here is to take care of animals... Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground". Genesis 1:26 And we truly believe that our lives including our business are for the use of God and our reward comes from Him... The Lord their God will save them on that day as the flock of his people. They will sparkle in his land like jewels in a crown. Zechariah 9:16 For us, being a jewel in a crown for God is the ultimate reward! So it seemed the name just fit! Thank you for visiting our site! May God richly bless your life! John & Kandee Popham |
